Simit Sarayı, right in the heart of London, on Oxford Street! You cannot imagine how happy I was. It made me proud, and if, like us, you have been missing simit for a long time, finding it feels rather like finding water in the desert 🙂 Congratulations to Simit Sarayı, truly!

We were completely overwhelmed when we walked in. Should we have börek? We were definitely having simit, but which kind: with tomato and cheese, or plain? 🙂 After all that deliberation, we ended up sitting down with a table full of food 🙂

I cannot tell you how much I had missed it. The place was nicely busy, too. We really ought to introduce more people to these wonderful flavours of ours. Here, I see Indian, Thai and Chinese food everywhere. In my view, England's food scene has become a mixture of all these cuisines. Yet we have so many delicious dishes: kebabs, pide, lahmacun, döner, çiğ köfte, vegetables cooked in olive oil, and desserts such as baklava, künefe and güllaç, to name just a few. Sadly, I don't think we promote them enough, and many people don't know them. To me, Turkish cuisine has so much more to offer than even those well-known cuisines. I hope many more places like Simit Sarayı open. I really applaud their success and hope they keep expanding 🙂
