An editorial selection of 20 addresses answering where to eat in Rome by neighbourhood and dining style. Compare trattorias, pizza counters and special dinners with different expectations. Photographs show the individual restaurants; sources are listed on the detail pages.

In Testaccio, compare sit-down options such as Felice, Flavio and Checchino with Trapizzino’s quicker format. Da Enzo, Glass and Antica Pesa offer different evenings in Trastevere. In the centre, connect meals around the Pantheon or Campo Marzio with your walk. Choose the area first and keep a nearby alternative rather than crossing the city repeatedly for food.
Reservations, branches and service times
Da Enzo al 29 does not accept reservations, so allow time for a possible wait. Choose Rome/Testaccio for Felice, Via di Monte Testaccio for Flavio and Salumeria con Cucina for Roscioli. SantoPalato’s new address is Via Gallia 28; avoid copying the former address. Menus and service hours can change, so use each card’s official link. Availability is not guaranteed.
What to check when choosing a menu and budget
Do not compare pizza by the slice with a multi-course dinner using one per-person estimate. Review food, drinks, service or cover charges and any reservation deposit together. Ask about ingredients in dishes such as carbonara or offal and discuss allergies and dietary needs directly with the restaurant. Do not assume seasonal dishes are available every day or that a photographed dish is on the current menu.
