Ticketed; date and package affect admission
Visibility can matter more than catching the exact sunset. Check timed-ticket conditions and the entrance on the official site. Choosing one observation deck rather than two in a day leaves more time and budget for other sights.
Consider the weather alongside the day’s visiting programme.
Suggested: 1–2 hours
Where is the entrance and what does a ticket include?
- Skydeck is on the 103rd floor of Willis Tower; its visitor entrance is on Jackson Boulevard on the south side. Check the Skydeck entrance rather than relying only on the building address.
- Official general admission includes the museum area, observation deck and The Ledge. Expedited entry is a separate option; compare the date, time and package inclusions before buying.
How much time and budget should you allow?
- One to two hours is a planning suggestion; security, elevator and photo queues can extend the visit. If aiming for sunset, allow an arrival buffer rather than reaching the entrance at that exact time.
- Check the current price on the official booking screen. In cloudy weather, consider visibility rather than choosing only by sunset time. Combining Skydeck with a Loop walk can be a simpler plan than budgeting for two observation decks on the same day.
