How to Explore London in 3 Days
Explore London without racing across the city. Spend day one around landmarks and parks, day two beside the Thames and day three with museums and central streets. Add this 11-stop route to your own trip and adjust paid visits and breaks to your pace.
Explore the route stops ↓Westminster and royal parks
Combine London landmarks with short walks and green breaks. The Abbey does not open for sightseeing on Sundays; see the exterior or move an interior visit to another day. Shorten the park in rain. Guard changes do not happen every day; keep the route independent of the ceremony.
Tower Bridge and the Thames
One historic visit, bridge views and an unhurried lunch. Borough Market is normally closed on Mondays; choose another lunch stop around London Bridge. Check holiday schedules. Choosing just one interior visit at the Tower of London or Tower Bridge keeps the day relaxed.
Museums and Covent Garden
From collections to street life, a cultural day in central London. Do not try to cover both museums in full; pick two sections in one. Replace the National Gallery with a square-side break if needed. If adding an evening show, plan its finish and your return separately.
Getting around London
Link central stops on foot and take public transport to the start of each day. Use the same contactless card or device consistently; a physical card and phone are not interchangeable. Touch in and out on the Tube and check TfL for daily caps and airport exceptions.
Where to stay?
Compare Westminster, Waterloo, Bloomsbury or accommodation near a useful Tube line. Consider airport transfers and late returns alongside the room price. Verify lifts and step-free station access before booking if these matter to your trip.
Budget and bookings
General admission at the British Museum and National Gallery is free, but special exhibitions differ. Budget separately for Abbey, Tower of London and Tower Bridge interiors. Before buying a city pass, total only the places you intend to enter and compare current official prices.
Are three days enough?
Three full days make a useful first visit; allow separately for arrival and departure. Windsor, Greenwich and studio tours are outside this central route. Stop durations and walks are estimates; lighten the day according to crowds, weather and your own pace.
