I realised I hadn't written a travel post for quite a while, perhaps because we hadn't been able to go many places lately 😊 Anyway, after my Edinburgh trip, here I am with another Scottish destination in the United Kingdom: Glasgow.
Glasgow is Scotland's largest city, described in my original notes as Britain's third largest. The University of Glasgow is among the world's top 100 universities in the ranking I referred to. With the sound of bagpipes accompanying a walk through its streets, Glasgow is well worth seeing.
Scotland and England seemed quite similar to me. Comparing Glasgow with Scotland's capital, Edinburgh, we noticed a few differences. Edinburgh felt older, more distinctive and more unmistakably Scottish, as I mentioned in that post. I also found it more enjoyable and lively. Since I love old buildings, history and cities that haven't been altered too much, I preferred Edinburgh, to be honest.

Places to visit in Glasgow
Buchanan Street
This is Glasgow's main shopping district, which my notes described as having been voted the world's seventh best. Along the street are plenty of shops and cafés for a meal or coffee break.

This street is Buchanan Street.

Glasgow Science Centre
Walking beside the River Clyde, you will easily spot the Science Centre's modern building. It is a wonderful place for visitors of all ages to enjoy.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens
If you want a peaceful break while exploring the city and a chance to see different plants, head to Glasgow Botanic Gardens.

Where to eat in Glasgow
Halloumi
Halloumi serves traditional Greek dishes—or Turkish dishes, as they felt to me 😀 Living in England, I often choose familiar food because I miss our cooking. You may prefer somewhere more British or Scottish, but if you fancy Greek-style food, this is an option. It has a pleasant atmosphere and is nicely done. I ordered stuffed vine leaves, fried halloumi and moussaka. The moussaka was a different style and wasn't really to my taste. The vine-leaf filling was tasty, but the leaves were tough. For me, even when dishes resembled ours, they didn't quite get there 😀

Paesano Pizza
For good, authentic Italian-style pizza, this is a great choice. I thought it was delicious and really enjoyed it. Bear in mind it can be very busy. The setting is pleasant and characterful, and the pizzas are excellent 👍🏼

In short, Glasgow is a place to enjoy yourself and experience different atmospheres. These were our stops over three days. There were places we didn't get to, including other museums and the cathedral. I enjoyed our time and would recommend a visit 😊
